Many organizations gather data and either share it publicly or internally. When using internal data, it’s a judgement call about whether a textile data visualization would reveal too much sensitive information; ask around in advance to be sure, some people can react strongly to their data — even obliquely — being used in data visualizations, with concerns about what it might say about them.
CIDR-Coeur is one example of using internal work data (Slack messages) for a weaving. Our internal work culture is such that there was no particular value judgement — positive or negative — associated with being on Slack. Also, all the data is color-coded by job type rather than person, with the exception of our boss, so there is some added layer of obfuscation of particular data points individual colleagues.
