A weaving in blue and black with a ladder pattern that shifts

An early textile data visualization experiment with a Rigid heddle loom, I set up data about the different series associations of Star Trek novels (e.g. Original Series, Next Generation, DS9, Voyager, etc.) on the warp, and the weft is made up of one yarn representing the series of the book, and then a black yarn if a “computer” was mentioned, a thick blue yarn if a “librarian” was mentioned, and a black and white yarn if an “archive” was mentioned. Every book included a reference to the “computer”; some included a librarian or archive as well. The organization of the data is in order of publication; I had intended to include all books in the weaving, but ran out of warp after the TOS books.

I have a detailed write-up of the weaving along with a link to the associated paper that the data analysis was originally for.
